Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

OUR GIVING PHILOSOPHY

St. Paul teach and encourage all members to honor God with both tithes and offerings.  We believe the idea of being a free-will giver is biblical.  1) Tithe is giving 10% of my gross income to God through my local church.  2) An offering is anything I give above my tithes. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 encourages believers to give to God as God has given to them personally. These verses teach us that we should not give under compulsion, out of obligation or with a spirit of regret. Rather, we should give with a heart of thanksgiving and joyfulness. At St. Paul we cheer at giving time because we believe it is a privilege and honor to give and be a blessing. We believe that giving is not an issue of money; instead, we realize that giving is an issue of FAITH (Malachi 3:10) and of the HEART (Matthew 6:21).

There are four characteristics that describe the heart of a giver:

The heart of

a giver displays an attitude of cheers.

(2Cor. 9:6-7)

The heart of

a giver acknowledges God’s Grace

(2Cor. 8:1-3)

The heart of

a giver reflects the affection that god shows us.

(1Cor. 13:3,

John 3:16)

The heart of

a giver is attentive to the needs of others.

(Acts 2:45)

We ask that each member consider tithing as a starting place and lean on other principles in the Bible while determining how much more to give. Those principles are as follow:

  • Seek God regarding the amount. (2 Corinthians 8:5)

  • Stay true to the covenant you make with God about giving. (Acts 5:1-11)

  • The tithe is only the beginning. (Malachi 3:8-10)

  • The financial gift should be a sacrifice. (2 Corinthians 8:1-3)

  • The financial gift should be generous. (2 Corinthians 8:1-3)
